Peeks from a Busy Week

Phew, it's already Friday and I'm behind on the blog again. Ugh.

A lot of things are happening here at the house, spring activities are kicking off, and work is wild.

Our window project is complete. It was a bit chaotic for two days and Dan and I spent some after hours painting the interior trim but the end result was worth it.

Replacing the windows in our house is beyond expensive because the HOA requires us to replace the entire window and frame with new construction so it's not simple or cheap. This is the second window project we've done and despite the cost, we are pleased with the quality. It will be several more years before we can take care of the remaining windows but this time we took care of the priority windows. The garage window was cracked, the dining room window only opened on one side, and Kip's balcony door had a quarter inch gap that let in a lot of draft. I know you can't tell much of a difference in these photos but in-person it's a really nice upgrade.

The day after our window project ended, they HOA started tearing up our driveway for a community-wide project to replace all the driveways and road. Our driveway was in desperate need of replacing so while it is inconvenient to not have access to our driveway, we are excited for the work and it makes for some entertaining window watching.

Kip has been dealing with a bad allergy season mixed with a cold. He stayed home last Friday and Monday and we took him to the urgent care and our regular pediatrician. He's on the mend now with regular allergy medication, but it's been a rough couple of week with absences and peak pollen in our area.

On the plus side, we let Kip watch the first two Star Wars movies for the first time while he was forced to rest. He loved them both.

Mandy has started work on the yard to bring it back to life for the season. She and Ivy have gone to the garden center a couple of times and we are waiting for the road work to finish and all the pollen to drop before we really get into planting.

Mandy got a garden bed for the back to try getting something to thrive back there.

Terri Mom had the idea to get a butterfly bush for next to the trellis. We loved that idea but we couldn't find one and then we got seduced by this other gorgeous flower.

We are hoping it climbs up this trellis and blocks the view of our neighbor's rusty AC unit.

Kip started Spring Soccer this week. He has his first scrimmage this Saturday and Ivy starts her first soccer class on Saturday too!

Oh and my balcony aviary is open for the season with a little Mama Robin sitting on her nest.

She and I are friends because I saved her eggs by scaring away a lurking crow. She doesn't fly away anymore when I come to peek out the window.

And now we're all caught up! Poppa arrives tonight and we have a busy weekend ahead.

  1. Thanks for posting. It looks like you have been busy. Your flower looks like a Clematis. We have one that exact color climbing a trellis on the south side of the deck. It was beautiful this year.
