It is a very busy week for me at work so I'm posting late at night when I have time to write in order to try and stay ahead of falling behind here.
Ivy's birthday on Friday was full of presents and celebration. I'll share a post about all that later this week. For now, I'm recapping our full and fun weekend.
On Saturday we had overcast soccer in the morning.
And then Dan and I took the kids back to the American Dream mall in the afternoon. We decided to try the Angry Birds mini golf this time.
We did not play by any rules or use any skill. No one kept track of anything and the kids just did what they wanted and had fun.
After golf we went to Toys R Us. Ivy's been talking about wanting a unicorn stuffie she saw at the store when we went with Grandma. Well, the unicorn was no longer there but fortunately she found something else she liked instead. Kip did too. Cha-ching.
We decided not to do rides at Nickleodeon even though we had a LOT of fun last time. It was $8-$12 per ride and that seemed really steep for what we knew it was. So we compromised and let the kids go on those ride-on animals. This mall was super crowded and parents rode with the kids. It was a 10 minute joy ride dodging people and spinning around. Despite the fact that the animals were filthy, it was pretty fun.
On Sunday the sun finally came out!!! It has been a tough spring with very sad weather. We all really needed a nice day, and it delivered! After church we skipped running club and went to Touch-a-Truck. This event was supposed to have happened the weekend Poppa was here but got rained out. The rain date ended up being perfect. The kids, of course, had a blast.
I remember when we first moved here and we came to our first Touch-a-Truck event. We were so stunned by how cool it was and I remember thinking something like that could never happen in Brooklyn. Now we know it's a common suburban event but it's still a wonder to me to be able to go and not have it be absolutely overrun with crowds. Indeed, the suburbs do have some perks!
We spent the rest of the afternoon outside. I am SO grateful for a little peek of summer to come!
Check back tomorrow night for a recap of Ivy's birthday celebration.
