Weekend with Poppa

Oh boy, here I am again. Behind. Well, better late than never. Here is little recap from our long weekend visit with Poppa.

My dad got into town on Friday night and he assisted with pulling Kip's second loose tooth. Kip had refused to let me give it a yank but $5 from Poppa was just the motivation.

Gosh I love a gappy grin.

Unfortunately, the weather was really sour this past weekend. Very cold and rainy. But, we made it to the first weekend of soccer and this year Ivy is participating in the Dinomites program which is just for toddlers and introduces soccer skills. A parent gets to participate with her and she really loved it.

Kip played awesome as well. At this age group most of the really skilled kids have moved-up to travel teams so the other players with Kip are better matched. However, there was one boy who was really, really good and was scoring everything. Fortunately he did pass on occasion and Kip did get a goal. We assumed the really good kid was having some sort of try out because immediately after the game, the coaches recruited him to the travel team.

After soccer we drove over to Red Bank to explore that area. It was a really cute little town with tons of restaurants and shops. We had a nice lunch and then hung out at a retro arcade called Yestercade. It was a blast. There were pinball machines and old school video games. We all enjoyed it.

Then we walked around, hit-up a toy store and got some ice cream before heading home.

Sunday was still cold but the kick-off to the spring kids running series like the one we did in the fall. Both kids did they're best and I'm glad they participated again.

It was Kip and Ivy's idea to go bowling afterwards. It was a great indoor activity and the place we went to had a really fun arcade as well. Maybe arcades was the theme for the weekend?

On Monday while Dan was at work and Kip was at school, Mandy, Ivy, Poppa, and I ran errands and had lunch out. Poppa grilled burgers for dinner.

Poppa left Tuesday morning. It was a really sweet trip with some fun activities and simple events. Love you Dad! Thanks for coming.
