Wildwood Vacation Day 2

See Day One of our trip here.

Our second day of our vacation started off sleepy.  The Marilyn room was great and comfortable but sleeping in a different bed always makes sleeping a little hard at first.  We woke up around 5 am and then tried our best to go back to sleep.  We mostly dozed until around 8 when we got up and ready for breakfast.  We sat out on the porch in the romantic wicker rocking chairs with the morning sun on our faces while waiting for the kitchen to open.

I already mentioned how much we liked the Summer Nites b&b (no this is NOT a sponsored posts -  I don't do those - we just really loved it) but the best part was the breakfast.  No continental style here!  We were seated at one of the sparkly pink and white booths and given quarters to make jukebox selections.  Shelia served us all gussied up in a poodle skirt and saddle shoes!  We ordered what we wanted from the menu the day before and got star treatment.  Warm banana bread, fresh fruit cups, and we both got the waffle with warm syrup, Dan got bacon and I got sausage.  It was SO good and "free."  Well, we paid for it in the cost of the room but it felt free to us since the b&b we were at the year before offered cold cereal and sausage.

After breakfast we jetted off to the beach! The Wildwood beach is unusual because the boardwalk is practically a quarter of a mile from the water.  The beach is huge! We didn't understand this because most beaches are only a couple hundred feet between the beach and the boardwalk.  Turns out, because of the jetties near Cape May, all the sand collects in Wildwood from the tides.  The area gains 50 yards of new beach every season.

Anyways, we got to the beach before most of the crowds and hung out for a bit but eventually got antsy to explore.  We went back to the b&b and hopped in the hot tub on the deck.  Just another amenity!!!

Then we changed for the day and walked to the other side of town to take pictures at the Wildwood sign.

We walked back along the boardwalk and took five dollars in quarters to play at the various arcades. $5 goes a long way in quarter machines.

We had funnel cake for lunch.  True story.

At the last arcade we went to we played a bunch of skee-ball and then I hit the jackpot on one of those chance games and won a bunch of tickets.  We turned the tickets in for candy.  Apparently the theme for the day was sugar.

Then we did this cool laser maze thing where you had to crawl over and under lasers without touching them.  I made it through perfectly but Dan was faster, even though his bum hit a laser, so he won.  It was fun.

The plan was to get back to the b&b by 4 pm because Shelia makes milk shakes or root beer floats for any guests that are around during that time.  It was a perfect afternoon pick-me-up.  She also made soft pretzels.  I mean come on?  Have you ever been to a b&b that did that?

After our afternoon treat we drove over to Cape May to shop along the little street mall and go to the Christmas store I loved so much last year.  It was neat to be back there again and remember all the things we did on our homey-moon and everything that happened between then and now.

We left with a new snuggle buddy.  I spotted him in a shop window and then Dan found him inside the store and told me to hold him to see if we needed to bring him home.  I gave him back to Dan and asked him to try holding him and to see if the little guy gave him a name.  Dan said his name is Sunnie because he is warm and snuggly (like sitting out in the sun) and he is from the beach.  Naturally we bought him.  Another hedgehog to add to our collection.

Back in Wildwood we went to dinner at a restaurant that Shelia recommended.  It was crazy crowded and we ended up waiting nearly an hour for a table but were fortunately seated right by the water at sunset.

The menu was expensive and we were a little underwhelmed but you win some you lose some.  We headed back to the room to jump in the hot tub again under the stars.  By the time we were in bed, watching Shirley Temple's Heidi, the fireworks started going off on the boardwalk so we scurried down to porch to watch the show.

We had fun things planned for the next and last day of our trip but I was super bummed our stay at the b&b was nearly over.
