Weekending it

This weekend was not as productive as I had hoped and certainly not long enough.  Ugh Monday.

On Friday Dan and I met at the Target after work and stocked-up on household essentials - ya know, kleenex, gum, toilet cleaner.  Trips like these are tremendously more difficult when you live in Brooklyn and do not have a car.  It's not a simple trip.  We have to plan it out, make a list, and be prepared to lug 6 heavy bags and over-sized items through the Subway station, up and down (no lie, 5 different sets of stairs) onto a Subway train and hold said bags until your stop and then walk a quarter of a mile to the apartment.  Then when you realize you didn't get a few items you kick yourself because there is no way you are every going back to Target again...until next month when the lure of the dollar spot and the variety of muffin mixes is just too tempting.

Saturday we dragged ourselves out of bed early and walked to the far side of Bay Ridge for a meet and greet brunch to check-out one of candidates for the pastor position at Crossroads.  We are hosting a similar brunch this coming weekend for the other candidate.  After brunch we walked back and visited for a bit.  Dan got to hold the new baby of the church and he looked so fit to be a dad.  I can't wait.

Then we gave the candidate and his wife a tour of our apartment and a tour of the Storefront church office space.  By the time we got home at 3 pm we had walked five miles and were beat.  We lounged the rest of the night with popcorn in bed and blue box for dinner.

Sunday was Sunday was Sunday.  The usual gig.  I had 7 pre-k/kindergarteners which was so full of five year old drama it was ridiculous.  We had tantrums over play doh, crying over cheetoes, fits over gold crayons, and pout fests over the craft.  Somewhere in there they learned about the wise-men...at least I hope they did.

That afternoon I made scones and set-up a tea party for a belated birthday treat for a friend.  I'll share the recipe next.

Dan and I should have done laundry, meal-planned, and grocery shopped but exhaustion and four inches of snow kept us inside.  Why can't the weekends just be one day longer????

Happy March!  Stop back by tomorrow for Show and Tell Tuesday where I'll be sharing about my favorite room in the apartment.
