Weekending it

Can you believe Christmas is less than a week away? December is disappearing so quickly.

On Saturday we got the first real snow fall of the season, about 3 inches, and Dan and I slept through the whole thing. By the time we left the apartment in the afternoon everything was gray slush. Yesterday it was close to 60 degrees and today it feels like 18 degrees. It's going to be a long winter.

On Saturday evening we went over to New Jersey for cousin Kaleigh & Kourtney's Christmas party. We were, of course, the first people there but it was nice to get to chat with them for a good hour before any other guests arrived! Dan and I are not super great at mingling with strangers but we were both pleasantly surprised by how friendly and engaging all of their friends were and we had a really great time. I only snapped a few pictures. Their cute Christmas tree.

The awesome light fixtures they have that cast really cool shadows

And the adorable dog that was at the party (he got overwhelmed so they put him back in his case). He was so cute.

On Sunday we went to church in the morning. We've been visiting a church in downtown Brooklyn for the last few weeks and we are really enjoying it so far. Afterwards we hung around the area until the late afternoon when we met up with friends to attend the Brooklyn Tabernacle Joy of Christmas show. The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir is really famous and every year they have a free Christmas show. Neither Dan or I had seen them perform and we were glad to be invited by friends. We got there an hour early and had to stand in a long line that wrapped around the corner but we got pretty good seats in the balcony.

It was a really great show with a solid message but ended up being longer than we expected. Still a fun time.

Now we just have two more days of work before we leave for a Kansas Christmas!

One last thing, in Friday's post I mentioned that Dan and I put our New Years wishes on confetti in Times Square. I just realized you can submit your wishes virtually and they will drop those on New Years too. Try it here!
