Christmas Decorating Details

Today I'm linking-up with Andrea for Show and Tell Tuesday: Christmas Decor!

Each year we decorate for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year was a little different because we are in a new apartment and had to find new places for things as well as get rid of some items due to space. Since we only have closet space for one storage bin of Christmas decorations, I decided to keep everything in the main living room/dining area. While I'd love to have holiday cheer in every room, I like the simplicity of having everything in the room that is the heart of our home.

That crackling yule log on Youtube is oddly mesmerizing and relaxing.

Itty bitty Nativity

That little metal wreath is a clever card holder.

This oversized chalkboard has really made seasonal decor easy and economical. Quick to change, fun to design, and requires no long-term storage since it can be changed year-round.  This was my attempt at a snow globe.

This little Christmas tree was my only Christmas decoration when I first moved to Brooklyn 7 years ago. It fit perfectly in my tiny little studio.

Mandy made the cute little felt garland. It fits perfectly on this shelf above our table.

Christmas tree close-up! We added colored lights this year in addition to the pre-lit white ones. It's a fake tree, obviously.

We've kept-up our tradition of getting a new ornament from any little trips we take.

One from our trip to Washington D.C. this past spring.

And the only random ornament we could find from our anniversary trip to Atlantic City.

We still need to find our "big moment" ornament for the year. It was easy when we had an engagement or wedding to mark the year. Now we just end up getting a snowman couple or kissing moose.

When my mom was here for Thanksgiving she gave us two ornaments that she picked-up from a craft fair at Mandy's church (where we were married).

And just for fun, the cutie hedgehog couple that Terri Mom made us last year.

Thanks for stopping by! Merry Christmas!

  1. Seriously-- so much good going on here! I love the metal wreath card holder! And the throw blanket! And the garlands! And the tradition of getting an ornament from each place you visit! So fun that we both have tiny trees that served as decor in our starting-out years!

    1. Thanks Reba! That throw blanket is the best blanket in the world. It's from TJMaxx. If you see one, snag it!
