30 weeks update

I'm finishing up Week 30 today! 10 weeks left (or less). That's a really scary thought. In a lot of ways I feel like we are pretty close to being ready but in other ways I feel totally unprepared.

On Sunday when we went to the hospital I was thinking all kinds of anxious thoughts. Was the baby still alive? What if they deliver him now? As we were running out the door I was thinking about how I should have something ready to go in an emergency - like at least an extra pair of underwear or something! Oh the places your mind goes when you are in a panic. Fortunately, everything ended up being okay but now I'm thinking more about not wasting time and really finalizing things around the apartment and getting everything in order so we can savor these last weeks as much as we can.

Things we've accomplished in the last 10 weeks (since our 20 week update)

- Assembled the crib and all other large furniture for the baby's room
- Attended a two-hour infant/child CPR training course
- Scheduled all remaining doctor's appointments and referral ultrasounds
- Registered with a pediatrician
- Babymoon
- Got our Tdap vaccinations
- Maternity leave plan approved at work and made an outline for paperwork and other steps I have to take once the baby arrives
- Consider life insurance and look into living wills
- Feel the baby move!! I really started feeling him move more around 29 weeks and then we had that no movement scare on Sunday but since then he is rolling around a lot!

Things we have yet to accomplish

- Finalize our three solid baby name choices!!! I'm starting to panic about this
- Finish the baby's room
- Tour of the hospital/maternity floor (we got a sneak peek)
- Get the hospital bag ready
- Decide if I want to take a breastfeeding class. If yes, register and attend.
- Significantly purge the contents of the living room to shift furniture around and make space for all the baby stuff (this is mainly to rid the space of a TV stand that will become problematic once the baby starts moving)
- Baby shower
- Decide about life insurance and do the prep work for the living will
- Make a few freezer meals
- Pre-wash all the baby linens and clothes
- Maternity photos?
- Enjoy summer!
