Last year Kip had a small birthday party with friends. This year he told us he didn't want a party. We decided to do several day-ventures instead and get tickets to see the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live show later this month.
Yesterday, on Kip's actual birthday we stuck to our birthday traditions. Decorations and presents set-out the night before. His theme was "Blue" but we added some space, sharks, and eagles to the mix.
You can spot a few handmade decorations which Kip contributed to the display.
Opening presents bright and early the next morning.
His big gift this year was a Lego train set.
He got some other Lego sets as well (not pictured are the three other sets Aunt Jagee gave him over the weekend).
Donuts for breakfast and then right to work building Legos.
It was a rainy day so perfect weather for staying inside and building.
In the afternoon we had a Zoom call with Grandma and Aunt Judy and Aunt Kandi. They were all so generous with Kip and he did a great job expressing gratitude which is something we've been working on with him. Lots of space stuff, games, and books! Loads of fun to play with.
In the late afternoon we headed to swim lessons early. Kip has wanted Dan to get in the pool with them and play before lessons.
After swim we went to Shake Shack for dinner for the birthday boy's favorite bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a shake.
And then back home for birthday cake!
Kip has a fun day-adventure planned with Dad tomorrow to ride the train into the city and go to the Lego store. We're headed to Kansas next week and then the Hot Wheels show at the end of the month.
