Friday night we got our favorite local pizza for dinner and I assembled name tags/lanyards for the children's ministry volunteers. Dan ordered nice lapel pins for everyone as tiny gifts. I think they are really sweet.
While I assembled he looked for apartments online and made a list to call on the next day.
On Saturday we had a Children's Ministry meeting from 10-12 and then we stayed at the church office until 5:30 pm cleaning and assembling a new desk for Dan. His old desk was over 12 years old and he deserved a nice new place to work. Before:
So we pulled out all the stuff, sorted and tossed, and put together the desk. At the same time I vacuumed and cleaned-up a lot of the mouse droppings and dead roaches all over the office. Hello, New York. It looks really nice and clean now.
As a treat for our hard work we went to our new favorite place for dinner. It's a Mexican restaurant that has been in the area for several years but we never tried. We went last week and liked the food, prices, and portions so we came back this week. Then we rented The Big Short on Amazon for evening entertainment. It was a little hard to follow but overall good. It was eye-opening as well. Money really is the root of evil.
Sunday after church we had a late lunch with cousins Kaleigh and Kourtney. They came all the way from Jersey to see us! We all got to catch-up and then went back to the apartment to play Ticket to Ride. That night Dan and I went to look at an apartment that Dan called on the day before. It was an apartment posted online as available June 1st which is what we want (it's unusual to see something available a couple months out, most units are posted for a May 1st move-in). We loved it and filled out an application. We'll see what happens but it's the same price we are paying right now so it would be like not having a rent hike this year. It's smaller than our current place but had everything on our NEED list, most of our WANTS, and some bonus extras like bike storage! I have big stars in my eyes about it so hopefully it doesn't turn out like this.
The week ahead is filled to the max with evening obligations so I'm tired already but most of it should be pretty fun so my Peeks from the Week on Friday might be colorful!
