We walked back into the city from the hotel and headed directly to the visitor center to grab tickets for the Ride the Ducks tour. Now, I know this is totally corny and ridiculous but we wanted a tour around the city and it looked fun so we got excited about it.
Our tour guide was the great old lady by the name of "Betsy Ross" and she was all decked-out in patriotic gear. She was funny and made the tour super entertaining. The duck tour drove all around the city pointing out landmarks and giving historical background. Exactly what we wanted.
Then the vehicle drove into the Delaware River and continued along the riverfront. The other people on the tour with us were a mix of old and young and families. At one point in the tour Betsy turned on silly songs like the Chicken Dance and everyone sang along. Well, not everyone. There were some teenager party poopers. I'm so glad Dan and I are "mature" enough to embrace fun experiences even if they are corny and embarrassing. Our kids are going to hate us.
At the end of the tour you get duck whistles! I love this kind of kitsch.
Next on the agenda was to see Independence Hall but our tickets were not for another half hour and we were anxious to be on our way to the art museum so we skipped that bit. Initially we planned on taking a tour bus to the museum but it was such a beautiful day that we decided to walk.
We made another stop at Redding Terminal Market for another cheesesteak for lunch. When in Rome!
Then we walked to the Philadelphia Art Museum. By the end of the day we had walked another 10 miles and effectively walked from one side of Philly to the other.
When we got to the museum we wanted to get our picture with the real Rocky statue, for Rocky Pants. The statue was swarming with guys insisting on taking the pictures for you. We had no choice. If we wanted a photo we were going to have to pay for it. So we did and fortunately the guy took a lot of photos and gave us pose suggestions. We paid $10 but it was worth it. You might even be able to see Rocky Pants in my hand.
Then we ran the steps!
