Weekending it

Is it birthday season or are people just finally hosting parties again? Kip and Ivy were invited to the 4th birthday party for their little neighborhood friend we met last summer at the pool. Kip had a blast. Ivy was petrified 80% of the time. Girlfriend needs to practice more social engagement. It's a pandemic baby personality trait.

The birthday girl had a bit of a hard time as well. Birthdays are hard. So many expectations and so little emotional control. But, hands down it was THE BEST birthday cake Mandy and I have ever tasted. We got the kids in bed my 9:00 pm which is probably the latest either of them have gone to bed. Of course, the late night did nothing for sleeping in and Kip was up at 6 AM Saturday morning. Ugh.

On Saturday, we did mainly chores, Kip's swim lesson, and playing outside.

On Sunday, Mandy took Ivy to the 2nd birthday party for the little boy she is the nanny for during the week. We decided it was better that only Ivy go since it would be easier for Mandy to manage one and it was age appropriate for her. And, Kip could have some solo time with mom and dad.

Look at these gorgeous girls!

Ivy did fine unless someone other than Mandy tried to engage with her.

Dan and I took Kip to Whippany, NJ where there is a train museum and rail yard with lots of train cars. Kip slept in the car on the way there so it was a peaceful 45 minute drive for Dan and I. Unfortunately, when we arrived we learned they were not actually open that day because of a special photo shoot happening. But at least they let us walk around the yard. Eventually two of the men working there (dressed in costume) talked with us for a bit and one let us go inside one of the trains.

Kip posed and took this photo of Dan and me <3

Kip enjoyed looking at everything in the yard and is eager to go back to see the G-scale model run, go inside the museum (for the gift shop), and ride one of the trains!

Only 10ish days left of school!!!
