Weekending it

Day late and a dollar short, but we had a happy and relaxing weekend.

I went home with Mandy on Friday night for a mini sister sleepover for our half birthday. Dan stayed with Kip and rented Terminator for his own entertainment. On Saturday, Dan brought Kip over to New Jersey after nap time and we all had lunch and then took Kip to the mall to check out Sea Quest. Mandy saw an ad for it and it was a pretty fun excursion.

It was basically a mini aquarium at the mall and aside from feeling badly for the animals stuck in a mall, it was a pretty cute experience for Kip and far more affordable than the actual aquarium. He got to throw some food into the water for the fish and he saw several sharks. He was a little scared at moments because he didn't really understand that there was glass in between the sharks and him. We walked through it twice.

Kip, of course, picked out a truck in the gift shop and I picked a stuffed whale for him which I feel like has a better chance of living a longer life than the cheap plastic truck that Kip is currently obsessed with but there was no way we were getting out of there without a wheeled vehicle of some kind and the prices on the souvenirs were really great.

We headed back to Brooklyn that evening. Kip fell while we were walking from the car with his truck in his hand. He got a scrape by his eye and needed some ice. For him and the truck, obviously.

Kip had a weird night sleep that night and was awake from 11-1 for no known reason (I suspect my coffee drink he downed). We had planned on going to church on Sunday, but Dan and I were both worried about what behavior we might encounter taking Kip to church with a bad nights sleep and forcing him to skip nap. We just aren't as brave to manage the terror that is Kip on little sleep. So we stayed home and kept to his routine which made for a nice little family day in the end. We headed out in the afternoon to get bubble tea and play at the park. Kip brought his shark truck and did a good job sharing with another little boy.

I did my grocery shopping and then we headed home. Since our afternoon wasn't rushed or crammed with chores, I made dinner a little early and Kippy helped me make the biscuits.

Then we were all able to sit down and eat together. We almost never get to eat dinner as a family since Kip goes to bed at 6 pm and during the week, Dan and I don't get home until 7 pm. Kip ate so well at the table and it was a nice little family moment.

Added bonus, he slept through Sunday night no wake-ups!

Monday was gray and rainy. Kip and I went out in the morning to go to the doctor for his 2 1/2 year old well visit. He did pretty good considering he hates being naked and he hates how squealy and in-your-face the nurses are. I'll do a update post on him his week.

Happy Tuesday!
