Our plans for this past Saturday were to go to Governors Island but the humid weather came back and we had to change plans. We opted to go to New Jersey and visit the pool that Mandy bought a membership to earlier this summer. I'm glad we changed our plans because the pool was really refreshing. Kip swapped toys with any other kid that got in the kiddie pool with him. But we really have to get him into swimming lessons.
On Sunday, both Dan and I were serving on teams so it was an early start. Kip loves hanging out with all the other kids that come early. He was so cute with the bigger kids that welcomed him into their games.
Unfortunately, he took a really short nap and we didn't have lunch. And then we decided to risk going to the grand opening of our friend's pie shop near where we go to church. It was crowded which was awesome and we saw a ton of old friends so that was fun too. But, Kip was losing it. He wanted to walk around and touch everything and flip the light switches, and, you know, be a two year old. So we scarfed down a slice of pie and headed home faster than we wanted.
Sunday night I went out with a friend to see The Art of Racing in the Rain which was so sweet and sad. I loved the book and I liked the movie. But what I really liked was being able to go out with a friend. We got dinner and ice cream afterwards. We went to a restaurant in the neighborhood that I haven't been to before. We shared this specialty dish from Georgia (the country).
So fun to go out with a friend! And I totally hear you on the "being a 2 year old" thing! It's exhausting sometimes.
