Kippy || 2 Years Old

We have an official two year old in the house!!! EEEK! His personality and language are exploding right now and he is really so much fun to interact with and observe as the world unfolds around him. I was thinking the other day about those first few months when he was a baby and how overwhelming and hard they were. And I remember feeling really desperate to just connect with him because it felt like all work and he was just kind of a crying blob. Of course newborns are flipping adorable but what you gain with age is interests and expression and they become such a fun little person!

Sleep
I know we are really blessed that Kip is a good sleeper but I'd be lying if I don't constantly feel like that could disappear. He still sleeps from 6 pm to 6 am and is currently taking a nap from 10:30 am - around 12/12:30 pm. He is a morning bird and has so much energy when he first wakes up. Lately he likes to sleep with this legs straight-up along the crib rails. I'm not sure how that is comfortable and I wonder if his feet don't eventually fall asleep from loss of blood circulation, but that's how he falls asleep most nights. When he wakes up from his naps he usually likes to chill in his bed for a bit before calling out to us to get him out. He is still in his crib and we are hoping he can stay there for another year. We'll see. And he is still firmly attached to his pacifier as well.

Eat
Kip has become a lot more picky in the last 6 months. Mostly he is just too busy to stop and eat. We offer him breakfast, lunch, and dinner plus snacks and it's his choice whether he eats it or not. Some days he eats a lot and some days he appears to not eat at all. We try not to make it a battle or force feed him. His favorite things are yogurt, applesauce, strawberries, and crackers. He does really well when we eat out as well. He also drinks a ton of milk. We have to cut him off of milk most days as he demands it constantly. He is getting good at using utensils too which is really cute.

Play
Kip is still obsessed with cars and says "CAAAS" all the time. He likes diggers, trains, buses, and anything with wheels. He just pushes them back and forth and likes to find new things to push them over. Recently he has started playing with his baby doll "Mama" more. He will pretend to feed her and kiss her and hug her. He got a doll stroller for his birthday which he loves pushing her around in. He still loves Toy Story so his Buzz toy and his Woody, Rex, and Bullseye stuffed toys get a lot of play as well. He likes doing fine motor toys and will play with puzzles as well. He has really loved going to the parks this summer and is really terrifyingly brave on the play equipment and slides. He is very social and loves it whenever there are other kids around to play with. I imagine he would really enjoy going to school.

Talk
Kip was over a year and a half before he started saying NO. And now he says it non-stop. That's a milestone in my opinion. A toddler that doesn't say no? It was inevitable. Besides saying no, he says car the most often or digger, train and big bus. He has a few cute phrases like "where ya go?" and "there ya go." He communicates a lot by pulling us by the hand and showing us what he wants or pointing to things. He also shakes his head for yes and no. He has started saying Nini for Mandy and Mer Mer for my mom who we call Marmee and he has said Grandma as well for Dan's mom. So now that the grandmas are happy, he can move on to other names like his own! Other little kids his age say his name often which is so cute so I can't wait to hear it from his mouth. More words are coming I can feel it!

Gaaa! I can't believe we have a two year old!! And just yesterday we had the most epic meltdown he has ever thrown at us. It went on and on and on and we have no clue what it was about. So this is 2!! Bring it!
