Weekending it

Playing blog catch-up today after the long weekend.

I'm fortunate to get Summer Fridays at work which is a relatively common practice at offices in the city. Basically, early dismissal on Fridays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. It's nice for me because I feel like when you work a 9-6, M-F year round it gets really depressing when everyone else starts their "summer break" and effectively have vacation for 3 months. Early Fridays are a nice treat to ease that jealously.

Anyways, I usually use Friday afternoon to catch-up on chores so we can really enjoy a full weekend. This past weekend Dan and I had friends over Friday night for dinner and games and then slept-in really late on Saturday. We've been trying to do Monday night dessert dates as a treat before the baby and extra bonding time. It rained last Monday so we missed out and instead went out for brunch crepes Saturday morning. Yumm!

All day Saturday, we waited around for Dan's cousins to arrive which ended up being much later than we expected so we actually got a lot of stuff done around the apartment. Liz, Paul, and baby Philip (no so much a baby anymore) arrived later that evening and Kourtney came over too to visit.

On Sunday we all headed to church and then went to Brooklyn Bridge Park for lunch and exploring. Philip is SO cute and such a charmer. I loved having him around to get a taste of what it will be like for us when our little boy arrives. I also learned a lot about what we need to do to baby-proof the apartment!

Monday we had gloomy weather and rain but we took the subway into the city and got on the Staten Island Ferry anyways to see the Statue of Liberty and all the boats and birds. Philip would point to every bird he saw. It was so cute.

Afterwards we met-up with Kourtney and had lunch and then I took them all on a quick tour of the museum. I parted ways with everyone after because I had to babysit for a friend later but everyone else headed to Central Park and Chelsea Market.

Lizzy, Paul, and Philip left the next morning before we headed off to work. It was a really fun weekend with them and getting to know them both better. And it's always fun to have out-of-town visitors to help you get out and explore the city more.
