Peeks from the Week

We had a pretty great week. Monday was Halloween, of course, so I wore a modified version of my Mary Poppins outfit to my tap class. Everyone else dressed-up too!

I love this tap class because it is so mellow. No one wants to be a rock star and push the class so we all just have fun. I'm the youngest in the class which I thought would be weird but we all click really well. There are two other women not pictured and our teacher.

The current show we are watching on Netflix (since we finished season 5 of The Walking Dead) is The Fall. It's a series about a serial killer in Belfast and Gillian Anderson (aka Scully from XFiles) is the lead detective. We watched the first two seasons earlier this year and the third season is now on Netflix. We are currently re-watching the whole series, it's that good. If you like crime drama with some major twists - watch this.

CURRENT PERK: Since Dan has two week days off until we figure out his next career goals, I decided we need to take advantage of this "free" time. So he came into the city on Tuesday to take me out to lunch. It was a beautiful day, as our weather here is having an identity crisis, and we walked along the Battery Park City esplanade and had Chipotle for lunch. It was warm like September. This photo is kind of trip-y - no, it's technically not upside down.

Another useful purpose for his days off is for him to go into the city in the morning and stand in line for Broadway Rush tickets. Yesterday, he got us front row seats for School of Rock and we met-up after I got off of work to see the show. IT WAS EPIC!!!

Oh my gosh, the show was outstanding. We had front row seats and could literally reach out and touch the stage (we didn't) but wow the view was great. Typically front row seats are not the best because you crane your neck the whole time but since the height of the stage in this theater was eye-level, we had no trouble at all and could see everything.

The main actor playing Dewey was phenomenal and man oh man that guy worked his butt off for two solid hours running around the stage. We were so close the spit was flying like crazy and you could see how much he was sweating. Serious admiration for him doing that every night. Major talent and energy.

Of course, Broadway kids are the best. All of them were adorable and talented and I really loved being so close to the stage and seeing their little expressiveness and acting tricks up-close. Go see this show! It was so good. And now I have a new song obsession. It's my new life anthem:

The rush tickets were $37 each and since we won the cash from the costume contest on Saturday, we felt no guilt with a night out on our austerity plan. I'm hoping we can see a couple more shows via rush before Dan is back in an office full-time. We are entering the Lion King lottery on a daily basis in hopes of scoring tickets to that show. So far, no luck but we have three more chances this weekend.

Happy Friday!!!
