Weekending it

Happy Monday again, the day is already half over!

We had a nice weekend and fit quite a lot into two days.  Saturday we slept-in but convinced ourselves that we needed to get out and check something off of our Spring Bucket list.  We headed over to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens which we hadn't been to since April 2013.  Look! We were such little babies.

We were sadly underwhelmed with this recent visit.  It was overcast and it felt like things were not very well maintained (weeds and dead leaves everywhere).  We sort of missed the peak blooms and what was left just wasn't terribly impressive. We made the best of what we found.

I think we were spoiled by the visit we had at Longwood Gardens last month.  That place was just so overwhelmingly beautiful that it jaded us.

Saturday evening we got all gussied-up to attend a fancy event for church.  I even ironed Dan's shirt and I wore my only fancy dress (next to my wedding dress).  We asked someone to take a photo of us and it turned out well. It was a nice meal, nice words, and goody bags!

Sunday was our first sabbatical Sunday.  We slept-in and watched way too much TV.  But we were highly productive as well.  We made a major dent in the apartment packing, probably 1/3 done. We took everything off the walls and Dan patched all the holes.  We packed the entry room, spare room, all the hanging wall decor, window treatments, and linen closet.  It felt great because we hadn't had energy or motivation up until this weekend and to get so much done was a relief.

After a solid day's work, by late afternoon we decided to take a long walk and get ice cream.  We ended the night with dinner and a movie.

This week we are headed to Washington D.C. on Thursday for a mini trip.  It will be Dan's first time and we're excited!
