House Tour - Bathroom Renovation - COMPLETE!!!

Can you believe it? The nearly two year journey is finally done!! We have a beautiful and fully updated and functional main bathroom.

Remember it before:

Dark and dated and dingy. But keep in mind, we had no intention of doing a full renovation when we first moved into the house. We knew the bathroom needed work, but we hoped it would be several years down the line. Nope.

Here is the recap timeline of this renovation:

August 2020 - move into house
October 2020 - stop using main bathroom standing shower due to leak in shower pan causing damage to dining room ceiling
April 2021 - we signed a contract with Bath Pros of NJ to demo our shower and soaker tub and install a new shower
July 2021 - demolition day and install of the shower
August 2021 - back and forth issues with Bath Pros of NJ concerning cosmetic and functional issues with the shower install
September 2021 - shower doors installed with my continued complaints to the cruddy company about install concerns
October 2021 - Dan and I use the shower for the first time
November 2021 - last time I heard from cruddy company when they started ghosting my correspondence
December 2021 - finally met with a reliable contractor and began conversations about having his team complete the renovation
January 2022 - Dan and I DIY rehab the vanity. Contractor installs new countertop, sinks, and faucets. They also fix drywall in tub area and repaint the entire bathroom
March 2022 - Contractor returns to reroute plumbing and install the tub, toilet, vanity lights, and new floor, plus odds and ends. This was supposed to be a three day project that lasted five

And now, the reveal!

I still need to get a few more accessories, but that's it! It's quite unbelievable that it is actually finished and it really felt anticlimactic once the contractor left. But, after I tided everything up and finally moved all our bathroom stuff back in, I was over the moon. The floor is beautiful, the paint color is peaceful, it feels fresh and modern but still our style. Replacing the shower head made a massive difference with the shower pressure/water usage and the contractor looked everything over to make sure it was in good order since I was not confident in the work of the company that installed it. Getting ready in the morning is a joy, except I keep getting distracted just standing around and admiring the quality work and hard earned payoff of everything we put into this project.

We are so glad this renovation is done and hopefully you like the results too since you've all been along for the ride!

Since I'm sure people are curious, the all-in expense of this project was around $25,000. It was a huge price tag for us but I'm glad to have it done and the improvements have surely added value to our home. And, keep in mind, this bathroom is obnoxiously large and that price includes rerouting the plumbing for the tub and replacing essentially everything in that bathroom except for the original vanity, which we painted.

Ta da! Happy Friday!!
