Weekending it

Happy end of a holiday weekend. Too bad there isn't another holiday Monday until May. UGH!

We had a lovely snow storm that we woke-up to on Saturday morning with nearly a foot of snow. We got all suited-up and played in it all morning. It was the perfect type of play snow and we worked on building a fort and throwing snowballs.

I am grateful for all the snow we've gotten this season. It has its inconveniences but snow is a core childhood memory that I'm glad Kip and Ivy get to experience.

In the afternoon Dan took Kip to a classmate's birthday party at one of those trampoline parks. Kip had a blast and enjoyed the VR the most.

On Sunday we had church and chores and house projects.

On President's Day Mandy and I had the kids select toys they were ready to pass along and we pretended to have a bit of a yard sale where I paid them some pocket money for the toys they chose to donate. This little incentive really helped them to willingly let go of some of the stuff they don't play with. Of course, that then meant spending the money they got right away. So we drove to a mall we had not been to before and they bought some things at Build-a-Bear and the LEGO store. We had lunch in the food court and rode on the two-level carousel.

Kip spotted one of those kiosks that has large stuffed animals you can drive around. He paid $10 of his own money to drive the red dragon around for 10 minutes. I was a little embarrassed by the whole experience (it's kind of ridiculous) but Kip adored every second and he was even sweet enough to take Ivy along for a ride. He said it was his favorite part of the day.

We have another busy week ahead, just making our way around the hamster wheel of life. My mood is tanking into my typical winter doldrums fussiness. Summer save us!
