Weekending it

This past weekend we dropped from 90 degrees on Friday to 60 degrees on Saturday. Plus we have a really heavy haze of smoke over our area caused by the fires in Canada. It's a very strange spring. The grass is fried already from lack of rain, we have loads of dead trees from who knows what, and it doesn't feel like summer weather has yet to fully arrive.

Anyways, with my complaints out of the way...our weekend recap.

On Saturday, Mandy took Ivy to the birthday party for the little boy she is a nanny for. They had a bubble guy and Ivy had a fun time with just Mandy.

Since Kip wasn't going to the birthday party, he declared June 3rd as "Dino Day" and insisted we DO something. Dan and I looked into taking him to the Liberty Science Center which is a kid's museum with a few dino activities. We are trying to be thrifty right now since May-August is a very expensive season for us. Turns out the adults could get free admission with a Bank of America card so we took that as a sign to go. I'm glad we did, we saved $60 and Kip had a BLAST running around and exploring everything without limits. He has been to this museum once before when he was just over a year old. He had no memory of it.

First we did some digging for bones.

And then that was it for dinos, Kip was interested in everything else and convinced us that he and Dan should do the virtual reality glacier race.

You can't pay me to inside one of those things!!!

Then we wandered around the other exhibits and lucked out with a train display and Thomas the Train play area.

They had this climbing activity that goes out over the side of the second level. It looks terrifying but Kip loved climbing through it. This was perfect for him right now and Ivy wouldn't have enjoyed it so it was nice for him to be able to explore without her being scared or disappointed.

We convinced Kip to stop for lunch before running through a few more things and then letting him buy himself a toy at the gift shop.

It was so nice for Dan and I to have some solo time with just Kip. He thrives on connection and really needed this. We should probably get into a habit of solo kid dates soon. Ivy would benefit as well, I'm sure!

On Sunday we did chores, yard work, church, and Kip dug into the toy he got at the museuma dig and build your own T-Rex.
