Kip's Picks: Potty Training

We started potty training Kip back in February. I shared more about that process back here. Now we are now at the beginning of April and I think it's safe to say Kip is fully potty trained. Are there still risks for accidents? Sure, but now that we are stuck at home for the indefinite future, at least he is accident free here! He has even self initiated on his own multiple times, taking himself to the bathroom without telling us.

So, I thought I'd share what we used to set-up a little potty area for Kip that really eased his transition through this milestone. None of this is sponsored or affiliate links, just sharing our picks.

We set-up Kip's mini potty in his bedroom since we do not have space in our tiny apartment bathroom. It's a fun little potty with a compartment for wipes and a fake flusher with sound effects! Next to the potty we set-up a basket to hold potty books for inspiration and clean-up essentials.

Our clean-up essentials include Kandoo Kids flush-able wipes, doggie wee-wee pads to put under the potty for any leaks and foaming hand sanitizer (not linking cuz good luck finding any in stock anywhere) for quick hand washing before going into the bathroom for sink washing. On the wall above the potty is his little poop sticker chart.

Kip now wears training underpants during the day and wears a pull-up or diaper (until we run out) for naps and overnight. He does regularly wake up in the night and call out to us to use the potty. He would probably be fine in underwear overnight but we aren't taking risks when doing excess laundry is proving dangerous during this pandemic. Our next step is getting him to go on the real potty. He doesn't like the insert potty seat and fights us when we try to get him to use it so I suspect he will take more time there.

I'd say if you are on the fence about potty training...quarantine makes for perfect timing if your little one is showing signs of readiness!
