Weekending it

Tomorrow is supposed to be 90 degrees here and then drop to the low 60s on Thursday! The leaves are changing rapidly despite the heat and I have a feeling Wednesday will be the end of those pretend summer days of early fall. By the end of this week we will be tumbling into winter. Sigh. I guess it's okay. We had an extra long season and I am grateful.

This past weekend we had Auntie Jess in town to visit and we had so much fun!!

I took a half-day on Friday and so Mandy, Jessy, and I had some fun sister time plus Kip. We went to the park and then took Kip out to dinner with us. He did surprisingly really well and actually loved the Indian food.

On Saturday we hung out and then after Kip's nap we headed to New Jersey to go apple picking! We went back to Wrightman's Farm which is our third year in a row. Kip was a wild man, running all over the place acting like he owned everything. It was exhausting but fun. This was the first year he was old enough to do some of the other activities besides the apple picking.

We did the hayride, the pumpkin patch, ran around the picnic area, played in the corn pile, shot some mini pumpkins in the slingshot, picked some apples really quickly before his final meltdown, and then headed home.

Tired.

Sunday we went to Coney Island! Of the ten years I've lived here and the many visits Jess has made, we've never taken her to Coney Island so this was her first. It was so HOT.

We got Nathan's hot dogs!

Then Jess and Kip had a blast on the kiddie rides on the boardwalk. Kip is a real thrill seeker.

Mandy took Kip to dip toes in the water.

And then they took a spin on the carousel. I was there I was just photo documenting everything.

Kip was not pleasant after we left Coney. He is into throwing raging fits now. It's not fun. I think it's a combination of the two-year old molars coming in and his tricky balance between needing lots to do and being overstimulated. Plus he has opinions.

But we had a great weekend regardless! Thanks for coming Auntie Jess!

Mandy got to stay over with me on Monday because she had the day off. She and I decorated the apartment for fall, did some chores, and then after Kip's nap we went over the the abandoned toy park and let Kip run around.

This park is so weird. Kip loves it there but it is truly the island of misfit toys.

We hit-up Trader Joe's on the way home and saw Kerri Russel riding her bike down the street when we were headed to the car!! A celebrity out in the wild being a human being!! What a thrill.
