My parents flew into New Jersey on Thursday night and stayed with Mandy and then they all drove over to Brooklyn on Friday morning. They arrived shortly after my older sister Jessy came in from LA. Kippy was greeted after his nap by so many adoring faces! And confetti balloons!!
During Kip's second nap we set-up the table for his "party" and Mandy finished decorating his cake. When he woke up we brought him out to look at all the fun balloons and decorations. We followed that with his cake smash and presents. I'll share more about that tomorrow!
After the festivities we let Kip play for awhile and then we all drove over to IKEA to pick-up the play kitchen my parents got him for his present. Then we went over to Pig Beach BBQ for an early dinner. Dan and I have been wanting to try this place and my family loves BBQ so it was a perfect fit. It has a bunch of outdoor seating so we really enjoyed the atmosphere and Kip loved the BBQ too. Friday was the only day with good weather in the forecast so we took advantage.
It rained all day on Saturday. Huge bummer. We all stayed inside and watched Kippy unwrap more of his presents and Dan assembled the IKEA kitchen.
Mandy, Jess, and I managed to sneak out for pedicures while Kip napped and then we all walked through the rain to go out to lunch. That night my mom's cousins came to Brooklyn from the city for dinner. So, we still had fun even though we were stuck inside for most of the day.
We were really fortunate that the rain stopped on Sunday and we were able to squeeze in one sunny day adventuring. We took the ferry to downtown Brooklyn and walked along the promenade.
We enjoyed a nice fancy lunch al fresco...
And then headed over to Jane's Carousel for a turn. Kippy LOVED it. He was so excited as we waited in line, pointing at all the horses.
We rode the ferry back to Bay Ridge and relaxed the rest of the afternoon.
Auntie Jessy left that night to head back to LA. It's been so fun to have her visit so much this past year!!
On Monday, I took Kippy to his one year well-check at the doctor's office. He was not happy about that. He got a finger prick and two shots and his mega cling phase was at an all-time high. By the time we left, it was pouring rain. AGAIN! We hurried home and met my parents and Mandy to go to brunch at the diner. We all trudged through the downpour with Kip screaming in his stroller because of the rain guard. Nevertheless we enjoyed our hearty lunch and headed back home through the rain again. Man, the endless rain this past week really cramped our visit. My parents and Mandy headed back to New Jersey and Kip and I played with all his new toys the rest of the afternoon.
Photo with Marmee and Poppa!!
It was a really great visit with my family and celebration for Kip's birthday. The visit brought back so many memories of this time last year when my parents were here for Kip's birth. A whole year with Kip, wow.
