Kip's Picks: Favorite Baby Toys

Tomorrow Kippy gets to open all the birthday presents that have been accumulating in our apartment. First baby, first grand baby, first nephew. So yeah, he's getting spoiled with new toys tomorrow. But before our living room is filled with a million new things to play with, I wanted to share the "baby" toys that Kip is into playing with right now. Not sponsored or affiliate links. Just our faves.

Kippy's favorite baby toys:

Shape sorter. Kippy has been playing with this toy for months! He doesn't actually sort the shapes yet but Dan likes to stack them up like a tower and Kippy will knock them over. He also loves to put the shapes into the bucket (no lid on it) and tote those around or fit just about anything he can into the bucket. Initially when he was just starting to engage with toys he liked to take one shape in each hand and clack them together. This toy really does grow with the child as they develop more skills so I see a lot more play out of this toy in the coming months.

Shaker toys. We got a three pack set of little rattle toys that Kip had zero interest in until he figured out how to shake them. He wasn't ever into rattles when he was still immobile but Mandy introduced him to maracas at a little music class they go to on occasion. He really loved it so she bought him that maraca and then he discovered the little rattles we'd had all along. He still loves to shake them around when he finds them in the toy basket.

Cars and wheely toys. Ever since Kip started crawling he LOVES anything with wheels. He loves the little Fisher Price turtle and tiger toys because not only do they roll but they also have popping balls inside. He loves pushing those around. The favorite toy for a long time was that little IKEA car. It's the first thing he really started moving around on the ground and crawling with. I don't doubt cars and vehicles will be well played with in the years ahead but I'll always see these three as special because he loved them first.

TV remote. Kip has a love affair with remotes. Rather than let him play with the working remotes, we got him his own remote for his Easter basket. It looks exactly like our TV remote except there is no battery. It's starting to fade as one of his favorites but there was a solid month where he always had that thing in his hand.

O-ball. This ball is fantastic! The ball is hallow so Kip is able to pick it up and throw it. Smooth balls are still difficult to grip so this little ball is great. It also bounces! Dan picked this out when Kip was only a few months old and it too still has a lot of life left for play.

Shoes. I put that little shoe in with his favorite toys because when Kip started crawling he was obsessed with going into a little basket in his room where we have a bunch of shoes for him. Auntie Jessy works for Toms so she has gifted him several pairs for him to grow into. He doesn't fit in them yet but he loves to dump them out of the basket and carry them around. He also loves our dirty shoes by the front door but we don't let him play with those.

Kippy also really loves Little People and stacking toys. He went through a fabric phase as well where he loved to flail fabric or clothing around.

I truly love watching Kippy play. He is so methodical and deliberate with what he does with his toys and I can see his little imagination already beginning to grow. What fun ahead!!
