Scenes from the Evening Commute

Nothing much to share at the moment, so here's a random post.

One thing I'm very grateful for is the commuter ferry boat that runs from South Amboy to lower Manhattan. When we first moved to New Jersey this ferry hadn't been built yet and it was something that convinced Dan we could maybe swing living here. It took 3+ years to finally arrive and it's extremely expensive to ride ($18 one way). BUT, it is a very nice occasional commuting option - especially for me since it is a fast and convenient way to get to work on a day when Dan is at home and Mandy has her car at work. Plus, it drops me off only a 5 minute walk to my office and there is a free shuttle that escorts me back home from the ferry landing in the evenings.

On nights when Dan and I are both in the city and I need to stay later for whatever reason, I can rely on the ferry to get home. You all know how my subway/commuter train anxiety has plagued me with debilitating claustrophobia so I am beyond grateful I have the ferry option instead of NJ railroad.

Here are some soothing scenes from a couple of my evening commutes lately.

Here's a daytime photo I thought was interesting. We've had a REALLY cold winter. The Hudson River was icy a couple of weeks ago. Look at this stuff the ferry had to navigate through!
