We hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend. We enjoyed a sun-filled and fun-filled weekend and a great kick-off to Kip's Spring Break.
On Saturday we had friends over for our third annual Easter Egg hunt with them and it was great this year because all the littles were old enough to look for eggs together. We spread it out into our nice neighbor's yard as well and the kids had a good time.
After the hunt they opened their eggs and then played for the rest of the afternoon. They each got to decorate several wooden eggs with the egg-mazing spinner too. This is always a hit.
On Easter Sunday the kids were itching to get downstairs in the morning and check out their Easter baskets. Mandy and I always have fun putting these together and collecting things over months. It was a mix of candy and toys, crafts and some cute Easter clothes for Black Bolt and Rainbow.
We all got fancied-up and headed to church. Easter Sunday last year was our first time attending our church so yesterday was our one year mark. We are slowly getting more involved there. Dan is on Prayer Team, the kids like their Sunday School classes, and Dan and I attend a small group. The service was great and Mandy came with us as well.
After service the church hosted an egg hunt for the kids. Everyone got a basket and there were plenty of eggs for each kid to FILL their basket to the top. There were balloon animals and pictures with an Easter Bunny too!
We spent the rest of the afternoon opening the eggs and playing outside. It was a beautiful sunny spring day!
I also did hard boiled egg dyeing with the kids using this spinner thing I got at the grocery store. I tossed the thing right after we finished because it was a colossal mess. Dye everywhere. Next year I think the kids will be old enough to try the old school vinegar soaking method. We shall see but we won't be doing the spinner again.
Mandy prepared our traditional ham and sides for Easter dinner and we also had angel food cake with strawberries for dessert. It was delicious.
It was a great weekend and now we are two days into a very soggy Spring Break. It's a bummer we have rain all week but Grandma is coming on Thursday and I know she will bring us some sunshine.
Side story: At the church egg hunt there was a person in an Easter Bunny costume for pictures. Most of the time a person in an Easter Bunny costume doesn't talk. This one did and Kip immediately recognized his Sunday School teacher's voice. LOL! The gig was up within the first second. It's okay, I don't think he was ever truly convinced by the Easter Bunny.
