One of my very, very most favorite things about August as a kid was getting back to school supplies! I remember it being really exciting and I also remember if being stressful for my mom. But I loved it. Mandy and I would save all our new stuff and not wear any new clothes until school started. We'd pick our first day outfits weeks in advance and we'd have all our stuff laid out the night before.
I've basically been waiting my whole life to be the mom to get to do the back to school stuff and with Mandy here, she and I have been having a great time collecting stuff throughout the year to get Kip started. Since it's his first time in school we needed everything...okay, not everything. But close!
The school supply list for his grade was very short. A backpack, an art smock, and nap mat. Optional room supplies included wipes, paper towels, Kleenex, and masks. I was surprised the the classroom supplies were optional but I appreciate that the district is conscious of financial concerns for families in the area. It was such a small list that we were happy to help contribute. But, that stuff is boring. All we care about is the backpack!
This Wildkin backpack and lunch box set is so cute and perfect for Kip because it is colorful, big enough for a folder but not too big it overwhelms his tiny body, and most importantly - cars and TRAINS!!!
The brand also sells a nap mat in a matching pattern but it was really cheap quality so Mandy found this JJ Cole option which coordinates, is a much better quality, and easier to roll. The pillow and blanket are attached to everything stays together.
Hello train pillow!!
Kip also needs an extra change of clothes, extra masks, and everything has to be labeled. I got this wet/dry zip bag with a big handle which is plenty big for a full set of clothes and even shoes. The little mask bag is from Target Dollar Spot and has one zipper side for clean masks and the other side holds a packet of wet wipes. The labels are from Label Daddy and are a super cute train design. Unfortunately the train design is no longer available but they have a cute construction set which is a perfect car lover alternative.
We aren't sure yet if Kip is allowed to bring his own lunch or if he is required to eat the free lunch provided to the Pre-K class. We are hoping to be able to pack lunches on occasion at least. We are required to send a snack along every day.
The Bentgo is old but the perfect size for his lunch box. The Thermos cups are the type we've always used for water at home so I'm glad Kip will be confident with how to open and close it while we aren't there to help. And the little zipper lock bag comes in a set of five colors and is a reusable! Perfect for packing a small snack that can fit in the pocket of his lunch box.
EEK! Mandy and I are definitely more excited about all this stuff than Kip is.
Oh, and in case anyone is interested...we use the Crayola masks for Kip. They fit his face really well and he keeps them on really well. Lots of designs and mask lanyards as well. They run sales often so keep an eye out there.
