Weekending it

I feel like I rarely do Weekending it posts anymore since we rarely do anything on the weekends. Sort of sad. Even during the first lockdown we would at least go to Mandy's apartment in Jersey. Now we live in Jersey and Mandy lives with us. There is no where to go.

But, it's December. The house is decorated for Christmas. It's festive and we're trying to make the best of it. The weather is getting consistently cold and it's strange how easily we forget the blistering heat of the summer and start to complain about the biting cold. We had a storm blow through so it was too cold and wet to go outside. We didn't do anything on Saturday.

Every Saturday night Mandy and I go grocery shopping for the week. The store isn't crowded at that time and we really enjoy the big supermarket of the suburbs. Well, I do in particular. She and I also got the peppermint chip shake at Chick-fil-a. This is our first year trying it and, oh man! It is SO good. I don't even care that the peppermint could dip my breast milk supply. Yum!

On Sunday, we hung out at home again and Mandy assembled a "gingerbread" house made out of pop-tarts. Kip was basically disgusted by the idea and refused to help. So, Mandy, Dan, and I decorated it in candy and then Kip was into it. He ended up eating a lot of the leftover candy.

Kip and Dan built the Polar Express and Santa's workshop and sleigh out of Duplos. These two are big builders.

Sunday nights Mandy and I tag-team and clean the whole first level of the house. Like, scrub the stove-top and mop the floors type of clean. It's a lot of work but it helps us all to start the weeks fresh and clean. Dan's Chiefs were playing the Sunday night game so he watched that.

And that was the weekend. Sigh.

Oh, obligatory Ivy photo!
