Life Lately

Little peek at life lately.

Last week we had our first flurries of the year/season. It was just light and nothing stuck to the ground but it was magical and Kip was so excited. He has been watching The Snowman and Snowy Day, both are little animated films based on the kid's books by the same names.

And it was Ivy's first snow. We threw a coat on her and took her outside to see it closer.

Funny thing, I had a Shutterfly alert that on the same week three years earlier was Kip's first snow!

We are supposed to get a big storm tomorrow into Thursday and I am SO excited. We will hopefully be able to take Kip out and maybe build a snowman. He wants to scoop the snow with his big digger and excavator. It should be fun. Thanks to the work-from-home situation, we should all get to stay at the house and enjoy the snow with the kids.

We finished wrapping and packing and got all the family Christmas gifts off in the mail before the shipping deadline. We will miss being with family but hopefully everyone enjoys their boxes.

Recently Kip has been interested in holding Ivy. It's a bit treacherous but so sweet.

One night last week Mandy suggested Dan and I take Kip out after dark to see the Christmas lights in the neighborhood. Kip was in a particularly contrary mood so it took a bit of convincing to get him outside. He protested riding in the stroller so we navigated in the dark with his scooter. He enjoyed the lights I think but for Dan and I it was a bit of a bum memory because Kip tends to be very fussy when something is off schedule or unusual. It almost makes it worse when we try to prep him in advance of something happening. Oh well, this is three.

On Friday, Ivy had a blood draw for some allergy tests. It was SO stressful. Even though I had an appointment for her we still had to wait in a packed waiting room and then they struggled to get the vein. She was screaming so hard. Eventually they sent me away to feed her and come back. Fortunately they got what they needed the second time, but man that was a two-hour stress fest that was not fun! This was her right before the trauma.

Saturday night we ate dinner early and convinced Kip to do a "movie night." We got him a treat and tried to get him to watch a short Christmas movie with us on the couch. His attention lasted as long as the treat and then he wanted the extra time to play. We watched Three Wise Men which which was a 20 minute animated movie on Amazon. Although he didn't watch it that night he did request to see it again the next day.

We have a fox in the neighborhood that keeps making an appearance. It is cute but also alarming since we aren't used to it and it seems to hang out around our "yard" a lot. And I mean, on the patio or up on the porch. We don't want it to get hurt but we decided if we see it again that close to the house we will report it to animal control. He/she is trying to hunt the squirrel family that enjoys our trees and we don't really want Kip to witness the circle of life just yet. And also, rabies. We can't tell if the animal is sick or not.
