This weekend we finished off our summer bucket list and soaked every last drop of summer sunshine from the sky. Technically, we still have one more weekend before fall officially arrives so we may have to do something extra special to celebrate. Hmmm....
Anyways, this past weekend we hopped in the car and Dan drove us all to the Hamptons! None of us had ever been there and we wanted to check it out.
It took close to two-hours to get there but there wasn't much traffic and the drive was beautiful. We flipped Kip's car seat since he his two now and his legs were crunched in the rear facing position. He loved being able to see out the front of the car.
We stopped for a yummy lunch and some running around.
Then we went to the beach!
We hadn't really prepared to spend the day at the beach but the water was warm and Kip loved the sand so we played there for awhile. It was a lovely day, not too hot, and not crowded at all.
After the beach we walked into town but there wasn't much to see so we grabbed some ice cream and headed farther down the road in search of the mega huge houses - think Martha Stewart and Ina Garten. Unfortunately, all the houses had 15-20 foot hedge rows blocking their property but you could spy some houses here and there. They were, of course, gorgeous and glamorous.
We hit some traffic coming back to Brooklyn but Kip napped and it wasn't bad. We all enjoyed the day.
On Sunday, Kip got to go to Sunday School for the first time!! They started a two-year old class and Dan and I are volunteering there once a month. This was our first week. Kip had a blast and although he doesn't get the concept of sitting and listening to the Bible story, I think he really liked having something to do. And, it wiped him out! Dan got him in the car and he passed out immediately.
After grocery shopping and grabbing lunch, we took the bikes out for a ride along the shore. Dan has taken Kip for a few rides this summer but this was the first time I was able to come with them.
It was a full and fun weekend. Check back later this week for our Summer Bucket List recap.
