Weekending it

Hello! I hope everyone had a nice LONG holiday. I love a four-day weekend. We didn't have many plans and it was crazy hot but we sprinkled a bit of fun throughout.

The fireworks over the bay were on the night of July 3rd. So Dan and I got home from the city a little early and we grabbed a spot on the hillside at the park. This kids entertained themselves while we waited for friends to show-up.

The fireworks were great, per usual. I'll spare you my blurry photos.

On Thursday, July 4th. We got tickets to go to Joy Jumps which is a huge mega bounce house experience in the mall parking lot. We got tickets against my anxiety-driven judgement in order to be a "fun mom." Looks awesome right?

It was awesome. Except, it was 90 degrees outside and super humid and no shaded so then the bounce house plastic felt super-heated. Jumping in that thing was like the surface of the sun. We were all wiped-out after just 20 minutes.

We paid for a 90 minute session but left after less than 40 and fortunately made it out of there without major injuries, which was a real miracle for the adults. We spent the rest of the day in the mall to escape the heat.

Friday, Dan and I had off of work and we played around with the idea going into the city with the kids, but ultimately we decided it was too hot. We went out for lunch instead and decided to spend the rest of the day at the pool. Unfortunately, the pool was unexpectedly and inexplicably closed for the duration of the weekend. We were pissed. Truly, but pivoted to play with our own pool set-up in the driveway.

Saturday was hot again and with the pool closed we had nothing to do, so we took the kids to see Despicable Me 4 in the theater. We all enjoyed it (minus the stale popcorn).

We didn't do much of anything else the rest of the weekend except for chores, playing inside, and watching a lot of Star Wars Mandalorian. Could have been better. Could have been worse. At least we can count it as a lot of quality time together.

This week is back to the grind and the kids first full week of no-plans summer break, just like the good old days.
