'Tis old news now, but our Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl!! Dan was thrilled.
Kip wore his team shirt the next day at school and combined it with his old man outfit for 100 Day.
Valentine's Day had a rough start. Despite (or because of) the fun Valentine's gifts the kids opened first thing in the morning, there were so many tears and moody attitudes all day long. Sometimes, change, even when it's special and fun, is hard. We tired our best to get cute sibling photos but cooperation was at an all time low.
Dan bought his ladies Chick-fil-a for lunch. Me and Ivy love Chick the most so it was a fun take-out lunch in the middle of a work day. It did not seem to improve Ivy's mood. Girlfriend is in a very sass-pants pouty two-year-old phase.
Kip returned from school with a party bag filled with Valentine's from his classmates. Gosh, I remember the thrill of this silly little day.
Wednesday night was Kip's final basketball practice for the season. They had an obstacle course competition.
This was timed and if you made one of your four shots, a second was taken off of your time. Most kids went pretty slow and focused on making the shots. Ultimately, the kid who ran the fastest but didn't make any shots, won. It was a bit poorly executed in terms of assessing real skill but oh well. The next part of the competition was free throw shots. Each kid got to shoot 10. Kip made 7 (based on the video I took) but they incorrectly counted 8 so he got to go against two other boys who also made 8 shots for a tie breaker. Ultimately, Kip didn't place but we were very impressed by his 7 shots and his good bud got 1st place with 9 baskets.
Kip seemed bummed by the end, so I sent Ivy out to give him a hug which perked him right up.
Overall Kip's energy was low and naturally, he was absent the next day for yet another virus. He's doing fine, just a cold but I refuse to be the mom who forces her kid to go to school unwell. I want Kip to trust that sick days happen and not add my anxiety about his mounting absences to cause him more stress.
Movie day in mom and dad's bed.
It's raining today and I'm at work in the city, grateful to have Mandy in our home who I trust 1000% to care for the kids, sick and all. She's the real hero of this wild season of parenting.
Happy holiday weekend!
