It has been a busy, busy week over here. Lots to update.
Last Thursday, Grandma arrived for her fall visit. We coordinated the dates so she would be here to help Dan with the kids while Mandy and I traveled back to Colorado to complete our annual Twin Study at CU. We were originally supposed to do the study in July but with the circumstances with our mom at the time, we canceled and rescheduled. This fall trip ended up working out well.
Grandma brought the sunshine with her and after five solid days of rain and no sun, we were thrilled to see her and the kids were elated to start off with a trip to the ice cream truck after school.
And Grandma unloaded her magical suitcase full of treasures doled out all weekend. Costumes and crafts, the original slinky, and much more!
Mandy and I flew out Friday morning and spent family time with Jess and our dad, slept-in one day, did our twin study, outlet shopping, and a special memorial for our mom which I'll share in another post.
While we were gone, Dan and Grandma entertained the kids with new costumes, crafts, a trip to Target, a haunted Halloween gingerbread house, the bounce houses at the festival in town, playground, and a special trip to the farm (more on that later).
Mandy and I got back Monday night. Dan had virtual jury duty on Tuesday. And Grandma accompanied me to Ivy's dental appointment and then it was a family event to go to the pediatrician in the afternoon to clear the kids post ear infections.
We had to say goodbye to Grandma on Wednesday morning. It was surely a special trip with lots of bonding.
And now we're back to our boring routine but still loving all the special gifts and memories Grandma left with us.
