This weekend was quite busy.
On Friday evening, Mandy and I took the kids to Five Below to pick sibling Christmas gifts. We did this last year to coordinate with the school fundraiser that gives back 10% of the sale to the school. Each kid got $20 to spend on each other and then Mandy and I added a candy and gift bag bringing the total to around $25 per kid.
We hadn't taken the kids to Five Below in several months so there was loads of new stock and they both made really thoughtful selections for each other and enjoyed wrapping them up later that night.
On Saturday, Dan, the kids, and I attended the church outreach event to pack meals with Rise Against Hunger. This was the first service event I've been to since we've been attending and this was the kid's first service experience, ever. We had such a good time and I was really proud of the kids being such eager participants (I was worried I'd be dealing with whining the whole time). We were at the sticker station and checked the food bags for leaks and placed a lot sticker on the bag and then ran the bags to the table for boxing. For the first hour both the kids were super into it. Ivy got tired after awhile which is understandable at her age. But Kip kept going. He was racing himself and said he had a lot of fun. It was a two hour commitment and they did awesome. We let them pick their choice for lunch.
In the afternoon Kip was invited to a birthday party for a classmate at Rock N Air. We brought Ivy along and paid for her own admission and divided and conquered. Kip has a lot of gal pals at school so he was the only boy classmate at the party but didn't seem to mind. Ivy on the other hand, had an issue sharing the attention of her brudder.
On Sunday we loaded the day with our cleaning chores but made time for decorating gingerbread houses and finishing assembling our Lego holiday village. I'm feeling so rushed this year with there only being three weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Eek!!
