Fall Break with Grandma

We had a wonderful visit from Grandma over fall break last week. We're still enjoying warm weather which is a little concerning (lack of rain, wild fires, etc.) but it has made for a very pleasant season.

Grandma arrived Wednesday night and on Thursday, Dan and I took off from work and we all drove into Coney Island to check out the New York Aquarium. None of us had been here before and it was a great little day-venture.

The kids climbed through this tube that went through the water.

They had LEGIT sharks. It was wild.

They had a great open air sea lion show too which was cool. You could see the ocean from our seats!

After the aquarium we had lunch at Nathan's Famous.

That afternoon Grandma got to attend the kids swimming lesson.

On Friday I had to go to work in the city for a department event. Dan, Grandma, and the kids got to play all day with fun stuff Grandma brought in her magical suitcase of endless toys. Whoopee cushions, cloud sand, puzzles, tattoos. All kinds of fun stuff. The kids love this about when she visits. She'll come downstairs carrying more treasures every time. They also got to go to Target!

On Saturday we went bowling!

Grandma says she used to be in a bowling league but this game she won Queen of the Gutterball. And Dan "sacrificed" his natural talent so Kip could win.

We played in the mini arcade there as well.

In the afternoon we had a movie date and made popcorn and watched the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was Grandma's first introduction to HP and she liked it!

Grandma left Sunday morning and it was a sad occasion. The end of fall break and the end of a favorite visitor.

We love you Grandma! We all had a great time and look forward to seeing you in Kansas in December!
